Although you might get rejected, even if it is Valentine’s Day.
BOW TIE is a funny little web series from Aphidsjkaboodle on YouTube. He’s adding more and more 30 second episodes to the puzzling world of Bow Tie, so check back for more “yah, yah, yah.”
What if Mordechai and Skips mashed up? How about Spy vs.Spy? There is no end to the possibilities in these Cartoon Network ID bumpers created by one of my favorite studios, Nathan Love.
A few weeks ago, my husband Pat found this hilarious novelty account on Reddit, UsernameFanfic, who writes fan fiction based on your Reddit username. I begged UsernameFanfic to do one for our name, twinsareweird, with the promise that I’d create a little comic to accompany it. I LOVED the story and had so much fun coming up with the artwork for it. Here it is:
I used the sketches for my Sketchbook Project 2012 submission and just shipped that little guy off to go on tour. Every sketchbook is given a theme and my theme was called, “The Worst Story Ever Told.” This is NOT at all how I feel about this story, but it did make me giggle. It kind of goes along with the subject matter.
We love Dexter and the innocent morning routine that seems so sinister in the opening titles by Digital Kitchen. That being said, here is a very cool, Saul Bass-inspired, alternative title sequence by Ty Mattson.
Mattson put this fun little animation together using existing artwork from limited edition silk screen posters he made for the show.
This is a true story, and actually not very Thanksgiving-y. But as I gobble gobble this Turkey Day + give thanks, I’m reminded how thankful I am that my sister is a super hero.
We were seven. Swinging on our swing set in our backyard, just shooting the shit.
I was sucking on one of those peppermint candies at the time. Not the best idea on a swing.
As the candy lodged itself nicely in the back of my throat, I flopped over… backwards.
It was then that I realized I was probably choking.
So I began to make my way to my house. Noey looked like she was catching on.
It did not look good for little Joy. I knew my grandparents were home, but they were all the way up on the 2nd floor. Basically the journey back to my house was the worst.
Noey knew this was it. I was not going to make it up the stairs. She screamed something like, “Not today!” and threw my lifeless body over the railing.
Out popped the candy. “I’m alive!”
Just wanted to thank you for saving my life, Noey!
I saw a commercial yesterday that actually made me squeak with delight. Much like this Sweet’N Low cloud rainbow, whenever I sweeten my own coffee and take that first sip, I too float on a hallucinogenic journey through the clouds. Look! Look how cute it is!
Founded by Joe and Kate Burrascano, Nathan Love is a NYC based animation studio. Described as their “misfit hideout,” Nathan Love looks like it might just be one of the funnest places to work ever. Rainbows bounce around the homepage of the site, and while I explored the About page, a disgruntled yellow crayon ran across the screen.
He’s so angry! The website is full of little surprises like this, which gives you a taste of their mischief.
Motionographer is always the first to write about the best new animation, so head over that way to read the full interview by the spot director, Anca Risca. My favorite part, “Animation and finishing happened quickly and smoothly, after which we all had cake and beer! Yaaay.”
I’ve always been a fan of their work, one of my favorites being their NBC Peacock. The only guideline was to create, “the best logo ever.”
