Let me explain.

Twaggies: A twag is a tag in the Twittersphere, obviously.  Basically, funny tweets are chosen to be sketched by various illustrators.  This past week, Joy and I were invited by the Twaggie people to illustrate a @JimGaffigan tweet.  We LOOOOOVE Jim Gaffigan.

They were really happy with what we came up with, so we’ve been invited to sketch for them weekly.  Be sure to check out Twins Are Weird Twaggies every Sunday!

Reel 13 is hosting another competition of 3 short films and this week, it includes “Down to the Bone” by Peter Ahern!

Hello Rubber House!  I’ve just discovered this animation studio, based in Melbourne. Led by Gregory Sharp + Ivan Dixon, Rubber House has directed and animated two music videos for Gotye’s album Making Mirrors. I was able to catch Don’t Worry, We’ll Be Watching You  during Gotye’s recent tour to NYC!

Coincidence! Ivan Dixon was just announced the winner of The LoopdeLoop LIQUID Screening. Congrats Ivan!

Every month there’s a new theme to animate. There are a few simple rules. Like it can’t be dirty…in that perverted way. And it has to loop!

In collaboration with MTV’s Liquid Television, March’s theme is LIQUID. And since it’s so normal to take baths with monsters who are being frighteningly adorable in the tub, we created this little loop.

If you don’t like our loop, you’re wrong. So maybe if you feel like it show some love by clicking on the tiny stars? It’d be a lot cooler if you did.

Let’s all go to Australia! And attend their show at Loop on Tuesday March 27th, 7:30PM. All posted loops will screen + a winner will be announced, receiving a mystical prize. Oooh!

When stepping up to a challenge like this, there’s a lot of time spent getting sucked in by the many talented + creative submissions! The friendly competition is special. A few of my favorites include work by Nathanael Scott, Neil Sanders and last month’s winner, Felix Colgrave. Uhmazing.

Every project should have a goal as achievable + fun as this one. A contest like looping cycles is totally doable. Actually, it’s hypnotizing. After we finished animating all the bath time fun, we took a nap.

What will next month bring? I’m excited.

When they asked us to create an animated festival trailer as well, we decided to bring the happy creatures in the poster to life for the big screen.  We hope you enjoy the spontaneous island dance party as much as these little guys.

The hamster is crushing on a red headed school teacher (meow!) and rescues her from evil demons, obviously. And the music by Colin Huggins kicks surfer butt.

String Theory wrote the drug-rant-esque script, Antfood is responsible for the fantastic sound design and a guy named Thor Erickson, NOT Johnny Depp, did the voice over.  He’s good; so convincing I almost thought this was an excerpt from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

The fun thing about being an artist is you can draw pictures.  Obviously.  But you’re not just limited to drawing pictures to combat boredom or even to get paid.  You can draw people Christmas gifts.  You can make get well cards and Thank You cards.

This is the Thank You card Leonardo sent over after he was accepted to Charleston.  Those are his characters from Apt. 5A with our girls.  Absolutely love this.
